Sales Resume Guide
Sales resumes are evaluated differently from any other function — hiring managers skip the objective and go straight to numbers. Your quota attainment percentage, average deal size, and revenue generated are the resume. Everything else is supporting context.

Sales Resume Tips
Lead every bullet with a revenue or attainment number
Sales hiring managers read resumes in reverse order of what most candidates think. They scan for numbers first. "Exceeded quota 4 consecutive quarters, averaging 118% attainment on a $1.2M annual target" creates instant credibility that a page of descriptive bullets cannot.
Specify your sales cycle and deal size
Context matters enormously in sales. "$500K in annual revenue" means very different things depending on whether it came from 2 enterprise deals or 2,000 SMB transactions. Always specify: average deal size, sales cycle length, and whether you sold transactionally or consultatively.
Name your CRM, sales engagement tools, and methodologies
List Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Salesloft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Gong, Clari — whatever you've used. Include methodologies: MEDDIC, Challenger Sale, SPIN Selling, Sandler. These are filtered in ATS and signal professional sales methodology.
Distinguish prospecting from expansion from inbound
Not all sales roles are equal. Be explicit: "90% outbound prospecting via cold email and LinkedIn, building pipeline from scratch" vs. "Expanding existing accounts from $50K ARR to $200K ARR through QBRs and upsell campaigns." These signal very different capabilities.
Include Presidents Club and top performer recognition
Presidents Club, Rep of the Quarter/Year, leaderboard rankings — include them with context. "Ranked #2 of 34 AEs in North America region Q3 2025" carries real weight. Awards without context ("Sales Excellence Award") are generic; rankings with peer counts are credible.
